THE RISING SCARAB
FROM DARKNESS. I EVOLVE.
Sometimes life buries you without putting you in the ground.
A failure can do it. Losing someone can do it. A bad decision, a broken relationship, years that disappeared too quickly, or simply waking up one morning and realizing the person you used to be doesn’t quite fit anymore.
That is where The Rising Scarab begins.
The scarab goes back thousands of years to ancient Egypt, where it became connected with the rising sun, renewal and the endless cycle of life. Egyptians watched scarab beetles rolling balls across the ground and connected that movement with the sun travelling across the sky. What looked like a simple creature became something much larger: a symbol of movement, transformation and beginning again.
Look closer at our symbol.
There is a sun because darkness doesn’t own the horizon forever. But sunrise doesn’t erase what happened during the night either. It simply gives you another direction to walk.
There is the scarab itself, protected by its hard shell. That makes me wonder how many people are the same way. We see the outside and think somebody is strong, while having absolutely no idea what is being carried underneath.
There is the ankh, an ancient Egyptian symbol associated with life. Put beside the scarab, it raises an interesting question: is surviving enough, or do we eventually have to find our way back to actually living?
Then there is the hourglass. That one might be the most uncomfortable. Time keeps moving whether we are ready or not. You can lose money and possibly earn it again. You can lose possessions and replace them. Lose enough time and nobody can hand it back.
And finally, the pyramid. Something built piece by piece that survived thousands of years. Maybe rebuilding a life works the same way. Not one giant miracle. One stone. Then another.
That is why I don’t see the Rising Scarab as some pretty symbol promising that everything will work out.
Sometimes it doesn’t.
I see it as something tougher than that.
You can carry pieces of yesterday without allowing yesterday to decide everything that comes tomorrow. You can come out of something changed without pretending it never happened. The cracks don’t necessarily disappear. Sometimes they’re evidence that something survived long enough to become something else.
Maybe that is the real mystery behind this little creature that has carried such a powerful meaning for thousands of years.
It spends its life close to the earth, yet humanity looked at it and saw the sun.
FROM DARKNESS. I EVOLVE.
Not because the darkness wasn’t real.
Because it wasn’t the end.
