Some songs are written to entertain. Others are written to make people stop and think. My World Is Gone belongs to the second group.

This song speaks to people who have watched the world change around them and wondered how we got here. It connects with parents who worry about the future, grandparents who remember simpler times, young people wondering what kind of world they are inheriting, and anyone who has ever looked at the news and felt like something important has been slipping away.

It isn’t about one country, one disaster, or one political opinion. It’s about a feeling that many people quietly carry. The feeling that little by little, the world we knew is changing faster than we ever imagined.

We’ve all experienced moments when we looked around and thought, “Things weren’t always like this.”

That’s where this song begins.

WHAT THIS SONG IS ABOUT

My World Is Gone is about reaching the point where the warnings have become reality.

Sometimes we ignore problems because they seem too big. Sometimes we believe someone else will fix them. Sometimes we simply get used to living with them until they become normal.

Then one day we wake up and realize that what we thought would never happen is already happening.

This song isn’t only about the environment, smoke-filled skies, or natural disasters. Those images are symbols of something much larger.

It’s about losing the things we believed would always be there.

It’s about watching certainty disappear.

It’s about asking ourselves whether we listened closely enough when life was trying to warn us.

Most of all, it’s about responsibility. Not responsibility meant to shame people, but responsibility that reminds us every choice matters. Every generation leaves something behind for the next.

Whether we build or destroy is always our decision.

THE STORY BEHIND

MY WORLD IS GONE

I’ve always been interested in watching people.

Not because I want to judge them, but because people tell stories without saying a word.

You can sit in an airport, a hospital waiting room, a shopping mall, or simply stand on a street corner, and you’ll see hope, fear, kindness, selfishness, generosity, and heartbreak all walking past you within a few minutes.

The world is constantly talking.

The question is whether we’re paying attention.

This song didn’t come from one event.

It came from years of watching.

Watching forests burn.

Watching floods.

Watching droughts.

Watching communities disappear overnight.

Watching families lose everything they owned.

Watching people argue over whose fault it was instead of asking what could still be done.

As I thought about those moments, I realized something.

The greatest losses rarely happen all at once.

They happen one decision at a time.

One warning ignored.

One excuse accepted.

One opportunity wasted.

Eventually those little moments become something too large to stop.

That idea became the heart of My World Is Gone.

The song also became personal as I wrote it.

The opening paints a picture of a world changing before our eyes, but the bridge changes everything.

“Goodbye my friends…”

“Goodbye my son…”

Those aren’t just dramatic words.

They’re reminders that every large tragedy eventually becomes someone’s personal tragedy.

Statistics don’t cry.

People do.

Headlines don’t grieve.

Families do.

When something terrible happens, the news reports numbers.

Real life remembers names.

That’s the difference.

I wanted this song to move from the size of the planet to the size of one family.

Because that’s where every global problem eventually arrives.

At someone’s front door.

Another idea that stayed with me while writing was how often we convince ourselves there will always be more time.

More time to fix things.

More time to apologize.

More time to change direction.

More time to listen.

Life doesn’t always give us that opportunity.

Sometimes yesterday was the chance.

We just didn’t know it.

That isn’t meant to leave people feeling hopeless.

It’s meant to remind us that today still matters.

Every decision still matters.

Every conversation still matters.

Every act of kindness still matters.

Every person still matters.

The final chorus accepts a difficult truth.

“We built this end.”

Those words aren’t about blame.

They’re about ownership.

Human beings are incredibly creative.

We’ve built cities, cured diseases, explored space, crossed oceans, and accomplished things previous generations would have thought impossible.

That same ability to create also gives us the ability to make mistakes.

Acknowledging those mistakes isn’t weakness.

It’s how real change begins.

That’s the conversation I wanted this song to start.

WHY THIS SONG FITS MOITA

MOITA has never been about writing songs that fit neatly into one category.

Life doesn’t work that way.

Some songs come from my own experiences.

Some come from watching other people.

Some come from imagination.

Others begin with one simple question that refuses to leave my mind.

My World Is Gone belongs to that last group.

It asks questions instead of pretending to have every answer.

It invites people to think instead of telling them what they should believe.

That’s an important part of what MOITA stands for.

Every song is another conversation about life.

Sometimes those conversations are painful.

Sometimes they’re hopeful.

Sometimes they’re uncomfortable.

But they’re always honest.

If someone finishes reading this page and starts looking at the world a little differently, then this song has already done what it was meant to do.

LYRICS

READ THIS FIRST

Before you read the lyrics, forget about genres, opinions, and headlines.

Read them as if someone is simply sharing a story with you.

Picture the places.

Picture the people.

Picture the silence after everything changes.

Most importantly, ask yourself one question.

If this story were happening in your own life, what would matter most?

Sometimes the answers we discover inside a song are really answers about ourselves.

LYRICS

MY WORLD IS GONE

Show me what is real

Salted seas become the breeze

And the view out there before me

Stretches farther than I see

And the rain it cries for me

Like it knows what’s coming down

Every shadow whispers warnings

As the sky begins to drown

Many days and many nights

There were warnings in the light

Now the truth we tried to hide

Is alive

MY WORLD IS GONE

 I WATCH IT FALL APART

RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES  RIGHT THROUGH MY HEART

NO WHERE LEFT TO RUN

 NO PLACE TO HIDE

WE LOST THE LIGHT

 WE LOST THE TIME

MY WORLD IS GONE

 IT’S TURNING INTO DUST

EVERYTHING WE WERE

 IS LOSING US

SAY GOODBYE THERE’S NOTHING LEFT TO SAVE

MY WORLD

 IS GONE

Fires burning out of control

Darkness swallowing the sun

Ashes falling like confusion

Blinding everyone

And the haze becomes the sky

No direction left to find

Every step feels like I’m walking

Through the end of time

Many days and many nights

We ignored the warning signs

Now the silence screams so loud

All around

MY WORLD IS GONE

 I WATCH IT FALL APART

RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES

 RIGHT THROUGH MY HEART

NO WHERE LEFT TO RUN

 NO PLACE TO HIDE

WE LOST THE LIGHT

 WE LOST THE TIME

MY WORLD IS GONE  IT’S TURNING INTO DUST

EVERYTHING WE WERE IS LOSING US

SAY GOODBYE  THERE’S NOTHING LEFT TO SAVE

MY WORLD

 IS GONE

Goodbye my friends

Goodbye my son

Our time was here

Our time is done

Too many faces

Too much pain

Who do we turn to

Who do we blame

MY WORLD IS GONE

 CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW

SCREAMING THROUGH THE FALL

 BUT THERE’S NO WAY OUT

NO MORE TOMORROW

 NO MORE LIGHT

JUST EMPTY DAYS AND ENDLESS NIGHT

MY WORLD IS GONE

 LET THE TRUTH BE KNOWN

WE BUILT THIS END

 WE’RE NOT ALONE

SAY GOODBYE  AS IT ALL FADES AWAY

MY WORLD  IS GONE

LYRIC BREAKDOWN

WHAT I LIVED, WHAT I FELT, AND WHY THESE WORDS EXIST

The opening of this song begins with uncertainty because uncertainty is where many of life’s biggest questions begin.

When we can no longer tell what is real, we start looking at everything differently.

That isn’t only true of the world around us.

It’s true inside ourselves as well.

The rain, the shadows, and the changing sky aren’t there simply to create imagery.

They represent that quiet feeling we sometimes get when we know something isn’t right, even before we can explain it.

We’ve all experienced moments where life seems to whisper instead of shout.

Sometimes we listen.

Sometimes we don’t.

The repeated warnings throughout the song exist because history is full of warnings that were ignored.

Whether it’s in relationships, families, business, health, or society, the pattern is often the same.

Small problems become larger because people believe there will always be another chance to deal with them.

The chorus isn’t simply describing destruction.

It’s describing grief.

The grief of realizing that something valuable disappeared while we were busy believing it would always remain.

The bridge changes the perspective from the world to one family because every worldwide event eventually becomes deeply personal for someone.

That moment reminds us that behind every headline is someone’s mother, father, son, daughter, friend, neighbour, or child.

That’s the part of tragedy that numbers never explain.

Finally, the closing message accepts responsibility without giving up hope.

The future is never written by one decision.

It’s written by millions of them.

Every day we have another opportunity to become part of the solution instead of simply describing the problem.

That’s the hope hidden inside this song.

WHY THIS MATTERS

Music can make us dance.

Music can help us escape.

Sometimes music should also make us think.

The world doesn’t become better because we argue louder.

It becomes better because ordinary people choose to care a little more than they did yesterday.

If this song encourages even one person to appreciate the people they love, protect something worth protecting, or stop assuming tomorrow is guaranteed, then it has already found its purpose.

That’s what matters most to me.

CLOSING COMMENTS

Every song I write begins with an idea, but I never want it to end there.

I want people to carry something with them after the music stops.

Maybe it’s a question.

Maybe it’s a memory.

Maybe it’s a conversation they need to have.

Or maybe it’s simply a reminder that the world isn’t changed by someone else.

It’s changed by all of us.

My World Is Gone isn’t about giving up.

It’s about paying attention before what matters most slips away.

If it encourages you to look at your own world a little differently, then we’ve already shared something worthwhile.
