THE FINAL HOUR

THE FINAL HOUR

TIME TAKES ALL. I TAKE WHAT’S MINE.

There is something about an hourglass that has always bothered me.

You can turn it upside down. You can watch every grain fall. You can pretend there is plenty left. But once that sand starts moving, it doesn’t negotiate with you.

That is what The Final Hour means to me.

It isn’t really a symbol of death. It is a symbol of accountability.

We all get time. None of us knows exactly how much. And while we are busy living, building, making mistakes, loving people, hurting people, fixing things, destroying things, forgiving, holding grudges, succeeding and failing, the clock keeps moving.

Eventually, everything we did with that time becomes part of the record.

TIME IS THE TRUTH

Time has an interesting way of exposing things.

You can hide something from another person. You can even hide something from yourself for a while. But give almost anything enough time and the truth usually starts finding cracks to come through.

That is why the hourglass belongs here.

It doesn’t speed up because you’re afraid.

It doesn’t slow down because you’re not ready.

It simply keeps falling.

NOTHING HIDDEN

The skull in this symbol isn’t there just to make the image darker.

It represents what happens when everything unnecessary gets stripped away.

Money. Titles. Reputation. Possessions. Arguments. Pride.

Eventually, none of those things can speak for you.

What remains is what you actually did, who you affected, what you built, what you destroyed, and what kind of person existed underneath everything else.

Sometimes the final hour doesn’t expose a secret to the world.

Sometimes it exposes it to you.

EVERY CHOICE COUNTS

Look at the target.

A life isn’t usually changed by one enormous decision. More often, it is thousands of smaller decisions landing one after another.

The phone call you made.

The apology you didn’t.

The person you helped.

The person you ignored.

The chance you took.

The opportunity you wasted.

The extra hour you gave something that mattered.

The years you gave something that didn’t.

One choice might seem insignificant when it happens. Put enough of them together and eventually they become a life.

WHAT REMAINS IS YOU

The flame represents something time cannot measure as easily.

What did you leave burning after you were gone?

Maybe it is something you taught somebody. Maybe it’s a child who remembers something you said thirty years earlier. Maybe it’s a piece of music, a photograph, a building, a business, a friendship, a lesson, or simply a moment when somebody needed another human being and you showed up.

People sometimes think legacy means being famous.

I don’t.

Most human legacies will never have a statue attached to them.

They live inside other people.

FACE IT. OWN IT.

That shield is important.

The Final Hour isn’t supposed to frighten somebody into thinking the end is coming.

It asks something much more useful:

If the clock stopped tonight, would you be comfortable with what you did while it was running?

And if the answer is no, you’re still here.

That’s the whole point.

The future really is being written by what we do before the final hour arrives.

Not tomorrow.

Not someday.

Now.

Because none of us controls how much sand is inside the glass.

But while it is still falling, we have some control over what we do with it.

WHERE IT CONNECTS

This symbol belongs beside MOITA songs that deal with time, consequence, mortality, truth, choices, what we leave behind, and the uncomfortable question of whether we actually used the life we were given.

The Final Hour isn’t telling you that time is running out.

It’s reminding you that time is running.

There is a difference.
